Hole Description
The opening hole at Echo Lake is a mid-length par four that plays downhill from tee to green. The demand begins with the tee shot. The entire left side of the hole is guarded with out of bounds. The right side of the hole is protected by two large oak trees that will obstruct a tee shot in the right rough. If you are lucky enough to place the ball in the fairway you will be left with a mid to short iron to a small green that slopes from back right to front left. The green is guarded with bunkers right and left of the green. A Par here will be a great start to the round.

Hole Description
Converted from a short par-4 into a mid-length par-5 in the recent Rees Jones renovation, the change in elevation from tee to green adds both length and difficulty. With two fairway bunkers and deep rough awaiting wayward tee shots, be sure to take a club that can find the fairway. Longer hitters will have the opportunity to get home in two and have a chance for eagle. The recently added cross-bunkers will make players think twice about how to approach their second shots on this reachable par-5. The blind approach shot will be sure to test your distance control. The putting surface is sloped from right to left. Putts coming from above the hole will be slippery.

Hole Description
Don't let the yardage on this short par-3 deceive you. This hole requires one of the most precise shots on the golf course. The green is well guarded by two bunkers to the right and steep false front all the way around the green on the left. Pitch shots from the collection areas to the left of the green prove extremely difficult with the green running away from you. There is opportunity for a birdie, but leaving this green with a par should be appreciated.

Hole Description
The fourth hole was converted from a short par-5 into a long par-4. Pre-renovation, birdie on this hole was almost expected. However, Rees Jones had a different idea; guarded by trees on the right, this hole demands not only an accurate tee shot but a long one as well. The approach will play downhill and the green is protected by bunkers on both sides. Par on this hole should feel like a birdie.

Hole Description
The fifth hole was recently remodeled by Rees Jones and has been praised by the membership. At 395 yards from the back tee the hole plays uphill from tee to green. The left side of the hole is guarded by out of bounds and two fairway bunkers. The approach shot is straight uphill to a multi-contoured green which is protected by three deep greenside bunkers. Once on the putting surface your skills will be challenged as the surface boasts numerous contours and ridges. Birdies here are rare.

Hole Description
The sixth hole is Echo Lake’s #1 handicap hole. This hole is a dogleg left and plays 422 yard from the back tees. Tee shots need to avoid the left side of the hole as scattered trees and two deep fairway bunkers make it near impossible to reach the green in regulation. After a well-placed tee shot you will be faced with a mid-iron shot that plays straight uphill. The putting surface is one of the smallest on the golf course and is guarded by two deep green side bunkers. The green was restored to its original dimensions in 2021 and run-off areas now surround the left side and long of this already challenging green. Once on the surface you will be tested as the green is sloped from back to front.

Hole Description
The seventh hole is a picturesque mid-length par three. Only well struck and precise tee shots will find this tiny green that is guarded by four deep green side bunkers. The green is small and the most undulated on the golf course from back to front. Tee shots hit over the green will be faced with a challenging shot due to the severity of the green. With an extensive teeing area and restored green complex, this mid-length par three poses a new challenge each round. Although not intimidating on the scorecard, this hole can test even the best of players.

The eighth hole is a dogleg left par four measuring 427 yards from the back tee. Players are forced to shape the ball from right to left or challenge the trees on the left hand side of the hole to find the fairway. Once in play, you will be left with a mid-iron to a green that is elevated and guarded by a deep greenside bunker right of the green. The putting surface is severely sloped from back to front. Players will need to be careful as it is not uncommon to putt the ball off the front of the green. A par here is a great score..

Hole Description
The front nine ends with a long dogleg left par four. Well played tee shots will be long and down the right side of the fairway avoiding the deep fairway bunker on the left. Once in play, you will be left with a long iron or fairway wood to a green that is elevated from the fairway. Making the approach even more challenging is the false front that rejects any approach that is not well struck. Surrounding the green are three deep green side bunkers. The putting surface is sloped heavily from back to front. A par here is hard to come by.

Hole Description
The eleventh hole is the first of back to back par fives. At 546 yards the eleventh is the shorter of the two. The hole doglegs to the right and has a fairway guarded by three fairway bunkers. Once you turn the corner you will get your first look at the green that sits perched up above the fairway. Most players will lay-up short of the two deep fairway bunkers in the lay-up zone. The green has two deep green side bunkers left and right. The biggest challenge on the hole is the green. The putting surface is large and has two distinct tiers that creates putting nightmares for the members.

The twelfth hole is the longest hole at Echo Lake which measures 582 yards from the back tee. This long par five doglegs slightly from right to left. The tee shot is guarded by fairway bunkers left and right. Once in play off the tee, the remainder of the hole plays slightly uphill. Mostly all players will lay up short of the deep fairway bunker on the right leaving a mid-iron approach. The approach shot is blind from the fairway leaving the three greenside bunkers and putting surface blind to the players. Once on the large putting surface, you will find the flattest green on the golf course.

Hole Description
The thirteenth hole is the beginning to a trio of difficult holes. At 457 yards from the back tee, well struck tee shots are vital if you plan on reaching the green in regulation. The left side of the hole is protected by several deep fairway bunkers that must be avoided. Once in play, your approach shot can land short of the green as the ball typically bounces and releases forward. The green is guarded by three deep green side bunkers. The putting surface seems subtle, but has many small undulations. This is widely regarded as one of the most difficult greens to putt on the golf course.

The fifteenth hole is a long straight away par four. Players need to avoid the out of bounds that guards the left side of the hole and a duo of fairway bunkers on the left and right. Once in play you will be left with a long iron approach to a green that is very elevated from the fairway. Challenges around the green includes bunkers both left and right and a severe false front short of the green. Finding this green in regulation is an accomplishment in itself. The green is sloped from right to left and is very challenging.

Hole Description
The sixteenth hole is widely considered the “signature” hole at Echo Lake. The hole is a dog leg from right to left and puts a premium on accuracy off the tee. Overhanging tree limbs on the left and scattered trees right force players to find the fairway. Only well struck tee shots will have a view of the green that sits well below the fairway. Many players will opt to run the ball down the hill to reach the green in regulation but will need to avoid the guarding bunkers. The putting surface is large and is sloped from back to front. Most of the year a view of the Echo Lake is in sight from the putting green. The sixteenth is both beautiful and problematic.
