A Place to Call Your Second Home

Settled in the heart of Westfield, within one hour of New York City, sits Echo Lake Country Club. The club features 18-holes, a newly renovated Club House, swimming pool, and paddle courts.  The club is a family-friendly environment that provides both the amenities and activities to engage the entire family. This includes numerous house events that bring together our membership and their guests.

  • Dress Code
    • Echo Lake Dress Code Policy contributes to the tradition, customs and decorum of our Club and applies to the entire Club property. Proper attire throughout our Club should be appropriate and respectful and applies to all Members, their families and guests as well as any other guests of the Club. Members should inform their guests of our Club Dress Policy prior to their arrival. The Board of Trustees has authorized our Club Staff to request Members and their guests to adhere to our Club Dress Code. In the event that a member or guest is in noncompliance with the policy. the Staff is further authorized to restrict access and service for such occurrence. 

      Slacks, golf shorts and collared shirts, turtleneck and mock neck shirts are standard required dress on Club grounds. Sweaters and pullovers may be worn over standard underneath clothing. They must be of appropriate size, length, neckline and fit. Shirts should be tucked into slacks or golf shorts at all times. Pants and shorts must be worn with a belt. Warm-up suits and customary paddle clothing are acceptable at the Paddle Facility. Denim and camouflage fabric of any color, T-shirts, short shorts, cut-offs, jeans, cargo style shorts or pants, sweat pants, warm-up suits and exposed undergarments are not acceptable dress at the Club. Bathing suits and pool footwear are acceptable only at the Pool Facility. Baseball style golf hats may only be worn with the bill of the cap facing forward at all times. Men and boys must remove hats and visors in the Clubhouse.

      Golf shoes, dress and casual shoes such as loafers and leather sandals are standard footwear on Club grounds. Athletic style logo sneakers are not acceptable dress on Club grounds. Sneakers, flip-flops, rubber athletic logo sandals and other such casual footwear are acceptable only at the Pool and Paddle Facilities.

      Customary paddle tennis attire, which also conforms to the golf dress code policy, including paddle/tennis style sneakers is permitted in the Donald Ross Room and on the Patio for Lunch Service during the primary paddle season between October 1 and March 31 only.

    • Cell Phone Policy


      The use of cell phones for telephone calls, emails and texting is not allowed on the premises of the Club. This includes the Clubhouse and Patio, Golf Course and Practice Facilities, Pool and Paddle Tennis complex. All electronic devices should be placed in silent mode.

      The following exceptions are permitted to this policy:
      Medical doctors may use cell phones for emergency calls. Please keep these devices in silent mode.

      Members and guests may use their cellular devices for telephone calls in:

      1. the parking lot, preferably in a car
      2. the Men’s and Women’s Golf and Pool Locker Rooms
      3. in the front of the Pool House. We kindly request that telephone calls are short in nature and occur only when necessary.


      Members and guests may use recreational media devices, (e.g., iPod, Kindle, iPad and similar devices) at the Pool. Verbal conversations on a cell phone are not permissible within the Pool area. Texting, playing games and reading on electronic devices in the Pool area (with the volume turned off) is permitted.

      Smoking Policy

      In accordance with New Jersey State Law, smoking (including vaping) is not allowed inside any building on Echo Lake property or on the Front Entrance Porch to the Club.

      Marijuana and any marijuana products are not allowed on the entire grounds of Echo Lake Country Club at any time.

      Smoking (including Vaping) is prohibited on the Patio (over-looking the 18th green) while food is being served at Lunch (11AM till 3:30PM) and Dinner (5PM till 10PM).

      In the event that any Member requests a person to refrain from smoking on the Patio, the smoker must extinguish their cigar, cigarette, e-cig or e-pipe or move to the permitted smoking area on the back uncovered Patio area between the Main Clubhouse and the Pool. Smoking is allowed on the Back Patio (overlooking the Pool), provided food is not being served. Special events may occur that will permit smoking in designated areas.

      Smoking and vaping is not permitted on the 2nd floor Balcony at any time.
      Smoking will continue to be permitted on the Golf Course. Members and guests are kindly requested to be considerate of their fellow golfers while smoking on the golf course.

      Guest Policy

      Members are always expected to accompany guests when dining in the Clubhouse. This includes all family members age 25 and above who are not Junior Active or Junior Associates in the Club.

      For the purpose of “Member Only” events at the Club, a “bonafide houseguest” may attend “Member Only” events. (A “bonafide houseguest” is anyone staying in a member’s home from out of town for up to a month and not more than 3 periods a year. The periods may not run consecutively.)
